We've been taught to call it stress, anxiety, fatigue.
To think that the burden is an individual problem, something to manage in silence, while the world out there continues to burn.
But we didn't choose some burdens. They are placed upon us.
Three illustrations to describe what many of us drag around every day: the burden of a system that exploits, precarious, oppresses, and devastates.
1️⃣ THE WEIGHT OF THE WORLD 🌍🔥
Wars, genocides, colonialism, fascism raising its head again, militarized borders, and a climate crisis produced by an economic model willing to sacrifice people and territories for profit.
2️⃣ THE WEIGHT OF DAILY LIFE 💼📉
Precarious work, insufficient wages, rent and bills, debts, taxes, and a future transformed into a privilege.
We work to survive while someone accumulates wealth from our lives.
3️⃣ THE WEIGHT OF THE MIND 🧠🌪️
Anxiety, stress, depression, burnout, anguish.
It's not always individual fragility: often it's the consequence of a society that demands incessant productivity, competition, and obedience while leaving us increasingly alone.
Three figures. Three enormous burdens.
And no one should be forced to carry them alone.
Because we don't just want to learn to bear the burden.
We want to understand who produces it, who profits from it, and how to free ourselves from it.
